Why choose an apartment instead of a hotel

An apartment on Lake Como gives you space, your own kitchen and the freedom to live the lake at your own pace. It is the natural choice for families, groups of friends and anyone staying longer than two or three nights: you save on meals, you get more bedrooms and you truly step into village life.

Our Delago 1685 holiday homes are built around that idea: carefully designed interiors, contemporary comfort and the lake a few steps from your door.

Where to stay: the best areas on the lake

Malgrate and Lecco, on the eastern branch, are the ideal base if you arrive from Milan: 40 minutes by train or car, more balanced prices than the centre of the lake and a lakeside promenade made for sunsets.

Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio form the famous mid-lake triangle, perfect for ferry hopping and historic villas such as Villa Monastero and Villa del Balbianello.

Como town is convenient for shopping and international trains, but it is the busiest spot in high season.

When to come and what it costs

April to June and September to October are the sweet spot: mild weather, gardens in bloom and better rates than July and August. In winter the lake is quiet and intimate, ideal for work stays or romantic escapes.

Apartment prices vary widely with season, lake view and length of stay: weekly and longer stays almost always qualify for dedicated rates. Write to us for a tailored quote.

What to look for in a lake apartment

Always check the real distance to the water and to public transport, parking availability (rare and precious on the lake), air conditioning for summer, a washing machine for long stays and Wi-Fi good enough for remote work.

Concierge service makes the difference: restaurant bookings, transfers from Milan airports, private boat trips and guided hikes turn a simple rental into a fully organised stay.

What to do during your stay

A day on the water between Bellagio and Varenna, the climb to Monte Barro or Piani d'Erna above Lecco, the gardens of Villa Melzi, the fishing villages and Valtellina wine tastings: Lake Como is lived between water and mountains.

Longer stays can mix slow lakeside days with trips to Milan, Switzerland and the Lombard Alps.
